Blankets for sale in Dogon Country, Mali

Blankets for sale in Djenne, Mali

I wanted to take home some cloth for quilting, so Hannah hooked me up with an artisan she knows who dyes tablecloths for sale. Mohammed Kamera is a refugee from Sierra Leone who now lives and works in Bamako.

You can see the tablecloth changing color as it dries in the next 3 photos.

Our "museum quality" blanket, purchased in Dogon Country. We saw a replica hanging in the Musee Quai Branley in Paris (see next blog entry "the journey home: 4 days in Paris)
